Police seize $8.5 million worth of cannabis following search of Port Perry property

Police seized more than $8 million worth of cannabis following a search of a Port Perry property.

According to the DRPS, officers concluded an investigation into a cannabis grow operation at a property on Highway 7 and 12 on Wednesday (Sept. 14).

“Investigators executed a search warrant, which led to the discovery of more than 10,000 illicit cannabis plants,” reads a media release.

“These plants were found growing indoors and outdoors on the property. Police also located approximately 250 pounds of dried cannabis in vacuum-sealed bags.”

The estimated value of the seized cannabis is approximately $8.5 million, police say.

Two people, whose names have not been released, were reportedly arrested on the property while they were tending to the cannabis plants.

Police say they were charged under the Cannabis Act with unauthorized production of cannabis and possession of illicit cannabis.
