Beaverton resident wins $100,000 lottery prize

A Beaverton resident recently won $100,000 in a lottery draw.

Lillian Madden matched the last six of seven ENCORE numbers in exact order in the June 25 LOTTARIO draw to claim the prize.

Madden, a retiree, said that she has been playing the lottery regularly for the last year.

“I always say yes to ENCORE,” she said while at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to pick up her winnings.

“I was out running errands when I thought to check my tickets. The machine made a funny noise, and I asked the store clerk if the register was broken but the clerk said I had won and we had to wait for a call from OLG.”

The mother and grandmother said she was shocked by the win.

“It’s numbing. I don’t know how else to put it,” she said with a smile.

“I can’t get it through my head that I won $100,000.”

Madden said that she has a lot of things to consider putting this win toward. Her top priority is skipping winter and going somewhere warm.

The winning ticket was purchased at Sobeys on Dalton Road in Sutton West.
