A young child was pronounced dead following an accident on a farm in Kawartha Lakes on Tuesday (Aug. 23) night.

While few details have been released, the OPP said that emergency personnel were called to a property in the former Emily Township around 7:30 p.m.

The child was located under a skid steer and pronounced dead at the scene.

“The information regarding the incident is being reviewed with the Office of the Chief Coroner, but at this point and time the incident is being considered a tragic farming accident,” reads a media release from police.
