Scugog resident charged with impaired driving

A Scugog resident is facing charges after witnesses reported a suspected impaired driver.

According to the DRPS, the incident occurred on Friday (July 29).

“Witnesses reported a vehicle driving on the should and into oncoming traffic, unable to maintain the lane,” reads a media release.

Police say that officers located the vehicle at Highway 7A and Scugog Street and arrested the driver for impaired driving.

“Upon further investigation, it was discovered the male had taken the vehicle without the owner’s consent.”

The 34-year-old driver, whose name has not been released, has been charged with impaired operation, take motor vehicle without consent, failure or refusal to comply with demand and two counts of driving under suspension.
