
The body of a 35-year-old Markham woman has been recovered from Lake Simcoe following a drowning Wednesday (July 20).
According to the York Regional Police, officers were called to Holmes Point Park, located in the area of Holmes Point Road and Donna Drive, for a report of a possible drowning shortly before 3 p.m.
“When officers arrived, they learned that a female had fallen off a floating tube and submerged into the lake. The female wasn’t wearing a life jacket,” reads a media release.
Officers with the York Regional Police Marine Unit, with the assistance of Air2, recovered the body roughly an hour later.
The Coroner attended the scene to confirm the identity of the deceased, whose name has not been released.
