Pontypool resident charged after allegedly causing extensive damage to motel

A Pontypool resident is facing charges after allegedly causing extensive damage at a Whitby motel early Saturday (July 9).

According to the DRPS, officers were called to a motel on Consumers Drive and Garden Street around 1:30 a.m.

“Police arrived to find the suspect damaging property and causing a disturbance,” reads a media release.

“The suspect also pulled the fire alarm and deployed several fire extinguishers in the motel. All the customers had to evacuate the premise due to the disturbance and fire alarm that was activated.”

Property damage is estimated at approximately $100,000, police said.

He was held for a bail hearing.
