Update from police:
“Thank you for everyone’s patience and understanding, we are happy to hear that the bear made it to a nearby green space. He was found swimming in someones pond, possibly cooling off from the heat. Have a great day everyone.”
Police are asking the public to avoid the area of King Street and Lakeland Crescent in Beaverton after a bear was spotted.
North Division officers shared a video on social media (see below), while the DRPS noted that the Ministry of Natural Resources has been notified.
According to the Durham District School Board, staff and students at Beaverton Public School are under ‘Shelter in Place’ protocols.
