
A motorist is facing traffic charges for allegedly failing to stop for a school bus in Scugog after photos of the incident were posted on social media.
According to the DRPS, the North Durham Traffic Safety Co-ordinator received a complaint after the post was circulated on Facebook.
The post states that the driver attempted to pass four vehicles on the shoulder and nearly struck a number of students that were exiting the bus on Island Road around 4 p.m. Monday (May 30).
The 63-year-old male driver has been charged with drive motor vehicle – perform stunt, pass on right – not in safety and fail to stop for school bus – signal/lights – overtaking.
“The driver also had his truck towed and impounded for 14 days, licence suspended for another 30 days,” the social media post reads.
The driver’s name has not been released.
