
Update — Police have completed an investigation following a bomb threat at Orillia City Centre, releasing the following statement.
“Police conducted an intensive search of the area, after being alerted to the threat. The OPP Explosive Disposal Unit attended and determined there was no threat. Police have cleared the area and all roads are re-opened. All residents who were evacuated are now able to return to the area.
Several streets in Orillia have been closed as police investigate an ‘active threat.’
While few details are available, a media release from the OPP notes that the investigation is focused on a portion of Andrew Street South near Orillia City Centre.
“All residents are asked to avoid the area until further notice. Residents in the immediate area are asked to stay in their residences,” the media release reads.
“Roads will be closed until further notice from Andrew and Colborne, West St. S from Colborne to Elgin, and Andrew St. to Barrie Road.”
