Lindsay motorist suffers life-threatening injuries in Highway 12 collision

A Lindsay motorist was rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries following a collision on Highway 12 near Beaverton Friday (May 6) afternoon.

According to the OPP, the two-vehicle collision occurred shortly after 4:15 p.m. at the intersection of Regional Road 15 (also known as Simcoe Street or Glenarm Road).

“A vehicle was travelling southbound, making a left-hand turn onto Regional Road 15 as another vehicle was approaching. There was a collision inside the intersection. Both of the vehicles had lone drivers,” states an audio clip released by the OPP on social media.

An update from police shortly after 10 p.m. noted that the southbound vehicle was driven by a 46-year-old Lindsay woman who remains in hospital. The driver of the northbound vehicle, a 32-year-old woman, was taken to hospital as a precaution.

The highway remained closed for several hours for the police investigation.
