DRPS officer injured after cruiser allegedly rammed by stolen vehicle

A DRPS officer suffered serious injuries after a cruiser was allegedly rammed by a stolen vehicle over the weekend.

According to the DRPS, officers involved in a stolen vehicle investigation around 5 a.m. Saturday (April 16) were advised that the suspect was headed toward the area of Pickering Concession Road 9 and Sideline Road 12.

“An officer was parked alongside the road when the suspect vehicle headed directly toward him striking him head on,” reads a media release.

“The suspect suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries. He currently remains in hospital in stable condition.  The officer also suffered serious injury and has been released from the hospital.”

D’Shaun Wilson, 27, of Oshawa has been charged with robbery, aggravated assault, dangerous operation, assault with a weapon and possession of property obtained by crime.

He was held for a bail hearing.
