Motorist charged following single-vehicle collision in Scugog

An Oshawa resident is facing charges after police were called to a single-vehicle collision in Scugog.

According to the DRPS, officers responded to reports of a vehicle in the ditch at Simcoe Street and Clerments Road just before 4:30 p.m. on March 5.

“Officers arrived on scene and observed open alcohol in the centre console of the vehicle and the driver showed signs of impairment,” reads a social media post.

“Further investigation revealed that he was also drive disqualified and a suspended driver.”

The driver was arrested and his vehicle impounded, police noted.

The 50-year-old driver, whose name was not released, has been charged with operation of a conveyance while prohibited, operation while impaired – alcohol, operation while impaired – exceed and driving under suspension.
