Lindsay resident charged with impaired following collision on Highway 7

A Lindsay resident has been charged following a two-vehicle collision on Highway 7 in Kawartha Lakes.

According tot the OPP, emergency personnel responded to the scene shortly after 7:30 p.m. last Friday (Feb. 4) in the former Emily Township.

“One of the vehicles at scene was fully engulfed in flames and extinguished by the fire department. No one was seriously injured in the collision,” reads a media release.

“Officers investigated and determined one of the drivers to be under the influence of alcohol.”

Jason Hughes, 39, has been charged with operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration of (80 plus) and is scheduled to appear in Lindsay court on Feb. 17.

“The accused had their driver’s licence suspended for 90 days and their vehicle impounded for seven days,” the media release reads.
