Orillia resident charged after infant suffers serious injuries

An Orillia resident has been charged after an infant was seriously injured last week.

According to the OPP, officers were called by paramedics shortly after 4 a.m. Thursday (Jan. 27) regarding a four-month-old infant in medical distress at a residence in Orillia.

“The infant was transported to a Toronto-area hospital with serious injuries and remains in stable condition,” police noted in a media release Sunday (Jan. 30).

Following an investigation, a 29-year-old Orillia man has been charged with aggravated assault.

“The identity of the accused, and the relationship between the accused and victim, cannot be released in order to protect the identity of the victim,” the media release reads.

The suspect remains in custody pending a court appearance in Orillia on Feb. 3.
