
An Oshawa motorist is facing charges after allegedly hitting two police cruisers while driving impaired in Scugog Township over the weekend.
According to the DRPS, a patrol officers observed a vehicle driving erratically with a flat tire in the area of Simcoe Street and Shirley Road around 1 a.m. Saturday (Jan. 15).
“The officer called in a secondary cruiser to assist. Once in position, both cruisers turned on their lights to initiate a traffic stop,” reads a social media post from the DRPS.
“In an attempt to go around the cruiser in front of him, the suspect struck the cruiser, then reversed and struck the second cruiser behind him. Officers were successfully able to box the suspect vehicle in, pushing it into the ditch where the suspect then attempted in drive away before becoming stuck in a cornfield.”
The male driver was arrested and no injuries were reported.
The 27-year-old driver – whose name has not been released – has been charged with dangerous operation of a conveyance, operation while impaired alcohol and drug, operation while impaired/exceed and flight from peace officer.
