An officer deployed a conductive energy weapon to disarm a sword-wielding suspect that was allegedly damaging property in Oshawa.
According to the DRPS, witnesses reported seeing a female on Centre Street and John Street damaging parked vehicles around 9:30 p.m. Sunday (Jan. 16).
“The female was armed with a large sword and wouldn’t respond to the officer’s direction to drop it,” a media release reads.
“When the female turned towards the officers with the sword an officer deployed his CEW. The female was disarmed and arrested.”
The female was taken to a local hospital for an assessment and was medically cleared, police noted.
A 39-year-old woman, whose name has not been released, has been charged with possession of weapons dangerous and fail to comply with undertaking.
