More than 50 new cases of COVID-19 reported in Brock over past week

There have been more than 50 new cases of COVID-19 reported in Brock Township over the past week.

According to the Durham Region Health Department’s online tracker, a total of 53 cases were confirmed between Jan. 6 and Jan. 12 even with new restrictions on testing from the provincial government.

“Recent changes in testing driven by the Omicron variant have led to greater underestimation of the number of COVID-19 cases,” reads a notice on the online tracker.

According to the tracker, there are 88 active cases in the municipality with all impacted residents in home isolation.

There have been a total of 387 cases in Brock Township since the pandemic emerged. Four deaths have been attributed to the virus, with the most recent coming on Jan. 2.
