An Uxbridge resident has more than 50,000 reasons to celebrate thanks to a recent lottery win.

Joaquim Cavaca won $50,000 in the DAILY KENO midday draw on Dec. 27 and another $2 on his ENCORE selection.

Cavaca said that he checked the ticket twice to ensure it was a winner.

“I was calm because the smaller wins I’ve had in the past prepared me for this,” he said, while at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to pick up his winnings.

“When I showed my girlfriend, she thought she was going to have a heart attack – I had to tell her to take it easy.”

The retired father and grandfather plans to purchase a vehicle with his win.

“Anything left over will be invested.”
