Brampton man charged after allegedly fleeing from police in stolen vehicle

A Brampton man is facing charges after allegedly fleeing from police in a stolen vehicle.

According to the DRPS, officers were dispatched to a stolen vehicle call in the area of Mearns Avenue and Concession Road 3 in Clarington shortly before 8:30 a.m.

“The suspect stole a Toyota Rav-4 which was left running in a residential driveway. The stolen vehicle was spotted by officers on Highway 407 exiting at Lakeridge Road,” reads a media release.

“Officers attempted to stop the stolen vehicle, but the suspect failed to stop. Police discontinued pursuing the vehicle due to safety concerns.”

Police say the suspect continued driving at a high rate of speed and was involved in a collision with two other vehicles at Lake Ridge Road and Highway 7.

A female occupant of a white Audi was taken to local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

“The suspect fled on foot, but was arrested a short distance away,” the media release reads.

Gurdip Singh, 29, has been charged with theft Over $5,000; possession over $5,000; dangerous operation of a conveyance; flight from police and operate a conveyance while prohibited.

He was held for a bail hearing.
