A special weather statement has been issued for parts of Durham and York regions ahead of a cold front that is expected to sweep through the area Wednesday (Jan. 5).
According to Environment Canada, strong winds gusting between 70 and 80 km/h are expected in the afternoon into the evening.
Residents are being advised that power outages may occur and high winds may toss loose objects or cause tree branches to break.
“Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions due to high winds,” the notice reads.
