Arrests made in human trafficking investigation

A Mississauga man and a teenaged girl from Toronto are facing charges following a human trafficking investigation.

According to the DRPS, officers began an investigation at an Oshawa hotel where a 16-year-old female was being trafficked for sexual services within the GTA back in mid November.

Two suspects were arrested with the assistance of the Waterloo Regional Police and Guelph Police Service, a media release notes.

Nicholas Hill, 33, of Hurontario Street in Mississauga has been charged with trafficking in persons under 18 Years by exercising control; two counts of permit person under 18 years of age on premise for prohibited sexual activity; material benefit from sexual services provided by person under 18 years; advertising another person’s sexual services; procuring/exercising control over person under 18; and financial/material benefit trafficking person under 18.

The 15-year-old girl has been charged with trafficking in persons under 18 years by exercising control; advertising another person’s sexual services; procuring/exercising control over person under 18; financial/material benefit trafficking person under 18; and material benefit from sexual services provided by person under 18 years.

They were both held for a bail hearing.

“Investigators want to ensure there are no additional victims,” reads a media release.
