Bobcaygeon man facing impaired charges following collision

A Bobcaygeon man is facing charges after allegedly leaving the scene of a collision while driving impaired.

According to the OPP, officers were called to a two-vehicle motor vehicle collision where a driver had been injured at East Street South in Bobcaygeon around 7:30 p.m. Friday (Dec. 10).

“The suspect driver left the scene and was later located. Through the investigation the driver was found to be impaired and was arrested,” reads a media release.

Jacob Nicholls, 29, has been charged with fail to stop at accident resulting in bodily harm, operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus) and operation causing bodily harm.

They are scheduled to appear in Lindsay court on Dec. 29.

According to a post on social media, the suspect was located by a Good Samaritan that happened upon the scene of the collision.

“This young man took it upon himself to follow the vehicle that hurt my family so badly. When the vehicle came to a stop for the night, the young man called the police and that impaired driver was arrested,” the post in the Bobcaygeon group reads.

“I just want to find out who this angel was that stopped to help my family so that I can personally thank him.”
