Fifteen people were charged with impaired driving offences during the second week of the DRPS Festive RIDE campaign.
Nearly 1,400 vehicles were stopped at checkpoints throughout the region, with 64 motorists given roadside breath tests.
In addition to the 15 people charged, eight others received licence suspensions including three novice drivers.
Four criminal code charges were laid, as well as 65 charges under the Highway Traffic Act.
“After the second week, the Festive RIDE team has charged a total of 19 people for impaired driving offences,” reads a media release from the DRPS.
“One party was charged as a result of a fatal collision (in Ajax) serving as a tragic reminder of the dangers associated with impaired driving.”
