One person was seriously injured in an altercation involving police in Bobcaygeon Thursday (Nov. 25).
According to police, Kawartha Lakes OPP attended a residence in Bobcaygeon for a theft investigation.
During an interaction, police say a firearm was discharged and one person was seriously injured.
“Increased police presence but no concern for public safety,” reads a social media post from Central Region OPP.
Ontario’s Special Investigations Unit has invoked its mandate.
The SIU is an independent government agency that investigates the conduct of officials (police officers as well as special constables with the Niagara Parks Commission and peace officers with the Legislative Protective Service) that may have resulted in death, serious injury, sexual assault and/or the discharge of a firearm at a person.
