The community has rallied following the recent theft of a poppy box from the Beaverton Legion.
The box was stolen at some point between Nov. 5 and 7, with an undetermined amount of money inside. While police are investigating, there are few leads on a suspect.
Following the theft, Candace Phoenix – the administrator of the ‘Helping One Another Brock Township’ group on Facebook – encouraged members to send donations to the branch via e-transfer.
More than $600 was collected over the course of the weekend.
“I’m so proud of how many people donated – I love this community,” Phoenix said in an interview.
“We cannot express how truly grateful we are for the community response related to the stolen poppy box we received over the weekend,” reads a social media post from the Beaverton Legion.
