
An officer faces theft-related charges following an internal investigation by the York Regional Police Professional Standards Bureau.
According to York Regional Police, on Nov. 11, an officer responded to a call in Georgina regarding found property.
“The officer attended and picked up the property to return to the owner, however, the owner reported that only a portion was returned,” reads a release from police.
Following the internal investigation by the Bureau, charges were laid.
David Runge, 42, of Lindsay is charged with theft under $5000, possession of stolen property and breach of trust.
According to police, the officer has been a member of YRP since 2004.
The accused will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in the Town of Newmarket on Dec. 21.
