Brock High to offer support for students following tragic collision

The following letter was sent to the Brock High School community Sunday following a collision in the Cannington area that killed a Sunderland teen and left six others with serious injuries (see link below):

It is with a heavy heart that we share the news of a tragic vehicle accident that has resulted in the sudden loss of a member of our Brock HS community and has resulted in other individuals from the surrounding community sustaining injuries. We are not yet aware of the full impact and the condition of those involved. We are a close-knit community and on behalf of our entire school team, we offer our support to the families impacted by this tragedy, who are understandably worried and grieving.

There is an ongoing investigation into this tragic accident and the authorities are still collecting information. We will have support in the form of grief counsellors and support staff in place as students and staff enter the building Monday morning and these supports will be available for as long as they are needed.

Please be prepared to accept that grief and loss are experienced and expressed by different people in different ways. Your child may wish to discuss this tragedy with you. If you would like help in supporting your child during this difficult time, please feel free to contact the school, as there are resources available to guide you. We encourage anyone who feels they are in need of support to connect with our guidance counsellors in the coming days.

Please know that this is all the information that we can share at this time and we will be reaching out again in the coming days.

On behalf of the staff at Brock HS, we express our deepest sympathies and support to the families of those impacted and their friends.
