Sunderland teen killed, six others airlifted following single-vehicle collision

A Sunderland teen is dead and six others injured following a single-vehicle collision near Cannington Sunday (Oct. 24).

According to the DRPS, officers were called to the Side Road 18, near Concession 9 Brock, around 12:45 a.m. after a pickup rolled over.

“A grey 2006 Chevrolet Sierra pickup truck was southbound on Sideline Road 18 when it lost control, left the roadway and rolled into a ditch,” reads a media release.

“The vehicle had seven teenaged occupants onboard and was driven by a 16-year old female from Sunderland. Four of the occupants were ejected during the rollover.”

One of the occupants, a 15-year-old male from Sunderland was fatally injured as a result of the collision, police said.

The remaining six occupants, all ages 15 to 17, were transported to local hospitals and later airlifted to Toronto based trauma centres.

“Two are currently listed in critical condition, the other four are now listed in serious but stable condition,” the media release reads.
