Teenager struck and killed by vehicle in East Gwillimbury

A 14-year-old boy was killed after being hit by a SUV in East Gwillimbury Sunday (Sept. 26) afternoon.

According to the York Regional Police, officers were called to the area of Centre Street and Doane Road around 2:45 p.m. after a Hyundai Tucson collided with the teenaged cyclist.

The boy was pronounced dead at the scene.

“The 36-year-old driver of the Tucson was not injured and remained on the scene,” police noted.

Any witnesses who have not yet spoken with police, or anyone who may have dashcam footage from the area, are being asked to contact investigators by calling 1-866-876-5423, ext. 7704.
