The Lake Simcoe Conservation Authority has advised residents that the rainy weather Wednesday (Sept. 22) could lead to some flooding in the area.
A notice notes that widespread rainfall is expected in the watershed, with 40 to 60 millimetres expected before Thursday and the possibility of embedded thunderstorms contributing an additional 10 to 20 millimetres.
“Unsettled weather conditions are expected to follow the passage of the front into Saturday and could contribute even more rainfall,” the advisory notes.
“The forecasted rainfall may result in flooding of low lying areas. All watercourses in our area will experience higher than normal water levels and flows. ”
As a result, local streams and rivers will become dangerous, especially in the vicinity of culverts and bridges.
“Children should be warned to stay away from all watercourses,” the advisory reads.
