One person is dead and two others seriously injured following a collision in Whitby Monday (Sept. 13) afternoon.

According to the DRPS, officers responded to the collision involving a van and a pick-up truck on Lake Ridge Road, north of Columbus Road West, shortly after 2 p.m.

Police say an 82-year-old man from Whitby was driving a grey Honda Odyssey southbound on Lake Ridge Road when it collided with a northbound black Ford F-150 pick-up truck being operated by a 30-year-old man from Ajax.

“The driver of the Honda sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. A female passenger of the Honda was airlifted to a Toronto-area trauma centre with serious injuries,” reads a media release from police.

“The driver of the pick-up truck was transported to a Toronto-area trauma centre with serious injuries.”

The road was closed for several hours for the police investigation, which is ongoing.

Investigators would like to hear from any witnesses to this collision that have not already spoken to police.
