A 37-year-old Emily Township resident has died after being hit by a vehicle on Highway 7 in Kawartha Lakes Monday (Sept. 13) morning.

According to the OPP, officers received a call that a pedestrian had been struck by a motor vehicle that had been traveling east on Highway 7, just west of Emily Park Road, around 4 a.m.

The pedestrian was pronounced deceased at scene and has been identified as  Justin Saunders.

The highway was closed for roughly seven hours for the police investigation.
