Motorcyclist charged after allegedly assaulting officer

A motorcyclist is facing charges after allegedly assaulting a police officer in Whitby Saturday (Sept. 11).

According to the DRPS, officers on patrol stopped an unplated motorcycle in the area of Consumers Road and Brock Street around 5 a.m.

“The driver became uncooperative, pushed the officer and fled on foot. During a brief foot pursuit, the suspect fell and when he got up, he ran at the officer,” reads a media release.

“The officer used a CEW to gain control of the male and he was arrested without incident.”

Tristan Clough, 28, of Howes Street in Ajax has been charged with obstruct police; assault with intent to resist; fail to comply with probation order; drive motor vehicle – no license; drive motor vehicle – no plates and operate motor vehicle without insurance.

They were released on an undertaking.
