
Two people are facing charges after police allegedly recovered a stolen boat and seized a shotgun and methamphetamine following a traffic stop in Kawartha Lakes.
According to the OPP, officers stopped a vehicle towing a boat and trailer on Mount Horeb Road for a Highway Traffic Act violation around 6:45 a.m. on Sept. 5.
“Further investigation revealed the boat to be stolen. Officers also located drugs and a sawed-off shotgun in the vehicle,” reads a media release.
The driver and passenger have been charged with numerous offences including possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000; possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000; possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm; careless storage of a firearm; [ossession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – methamphetamine; two counts of possession of a Schedule IV substance for the purpose of trafficking and possession of over 30g dried cannabis in a public place.
“Names will not be released as the investigation remains ongoing,” the media release concludes.
