A pair of beaches in Brock Township have been posted as unsafe for swimming heading into the long weekend.

The north and south beaches at the Beaverton Harbour have both been flagged by the Durham Region Health Department, while the beach Thorah Centennial Park remains open.

Other beaches posted in the region include Kinsmen Beach in Scugog, Lakeview Beach West in Oshawa, Newcastle Beach Central in Clarington and Paradise Beach in Ajax.

Beaches are posted as unsafe for swimming when elevated levels of E. coli exceed the provincial standard of 200 E. coli per 100 ml of water.
