Heading into the weekend, two public beaches in North Durham been posted as unsafe for swimming by the Durham Region Health Department.

The Thorah Centennial Park in Beaverton and Kinsmen Beach in Scugog have both been flagged, as well as Whitby Beach.

Beaches are posted as unsafe for swimming when elevated levels of E. coli exceed the provincial standard of 200 E. coli per 100 ml of water.
