Five domestic incidents reported to Kawartha Lakes Police Service in 24-hour span

Officers with the Kawartha Lakes Police Service have investigated five domestic incidents in the past 24 hours, resulting in eight criminal charges.

According to a media release, some of the charges include spousal assault involving a weapon, threatening and noncompliance with release orders.

“Victims in abusive relationships are not alone. If you are in an abusive relationship or know someone who is, there are local resources here to help,” reads a media release.

To report a case of domestic violence call Kawartha Lakes Police Service at 705-324-5252 or 911 in emergency situations.

“A toll-free call can be placed to the Assaulted Women’s Helpline at 1-866-863-0511, where your information will remain anonymous and confidential,” the media release reads.
