
A suspect wanted by the DRPS was arrested in Lindsay over the weekend.
According to the Kawartha Lakes Police Service, officers were called to Mary Street East in Lindsay just before 7:30 p.m. Sunday (Aug. 22) after a suspect was allegedly seen removing items from a vehicle.
“When officers arrived, they observed a large number of items discarded around the vehicle. Officers observed the suspect as he fled the area on foot, running through backyards,” reads a media release.
“The male ran through a Lindsay Street South business in an attempt to evade police and continued into backyards. The male was caught by police in a backyard on Mary Street East and placed under arrest.”
Jason Medina-Hanusiak, 32, of Fenelon Falls has been charged with theft from motor vehicle; possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000; mischief; break and enter place with intent and possession break in instruments.
“It was learned that this party was also wanted by Durham Regional Police Service,” the media release reads.
The accused is scheduled to appear in Lindsay court on Sept. 30.
