Cannington residents are being asked to conserve water during an upcoming maintenance project.
Repairs to the village’s water tower are slated to run from Sept. 7 to Oct. 18 though unfavourable weather conditions may influence the work schedule.
“Residents should limit non-essential water use during this time..Once the work is completed, residents may return to normal water conservation efforts,” reads a public notice from Durham Region.
Examples of non-essential water use include cleaning driveways or decks, washing cars and lawn watering.
“Water conservation is necessary to maintain adequate water levels to deal with emergencies, including fire protection. Fire services will be notified to ensure alternate supplies are in place to maintain emergency coverage,” the notice reads.
“Special efforts are being made to maintain normal water service during this program, however, some customers may experience pressure fluctuations. While work is underway, select hydrants may discharge or spout water. This is to help control water pressure within the distribution system.”
