Five days after a truck with a puppy inside was reportedly stolen in Port Perry, officers have confirmed the canine has been reunited with her owners.
According to Durham Regional Police, a truck was stolen in the area of Scugog Line 3 and Simcoe Street around 10 a.m. on Aug. 11.
Opal, a 9-month old Australian Sheppard puppy, was inside.
Members of the public were asked to contact police if they spotted the dog or vehicle.
In a public social media post shared Monday (Aug. 16) morning, the puppy’s owner thanked everyone who had a hand in bringing Opal home.
“Never in my life would I think something like this would happen to me. It has been 5 days of endless searching, sleepless nights and constant worry of when we would have our sweet girl home,” reads the post.
“We can’t thank every single one of you enough, it was you that brought her home to us. #bringopalhome”
Police also took to social media to share the news.
