
A Beaverton man is facing charges following an alleged shoplifting incident at a Lindsay business over the weekend.
According to the Kawartha Lakes Police Service, officers were called to a Kent Street West business in Lindsay for a shoplifter around 1:45 p.m. on Saturday (Aug. 7).
“Loss Prevention staff from the store witnessed as a male secluded items in a bag and exit the store without paying,” reads a media release.
“When officers arrived loss prevention had the male in custody and officers continued the arrest.”
Charged with theft under $5,000 and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000 is 30-year-old Matthew Basler, 30, of Beaverton.
The accused is scheduled to appear in Lindsay court on Sept. 16.
