Two charged in relation to cannabis grow operation in Beaverton

Two Markham residents are facing charges following a police investigation into a cannabis grow operation in Beaverton.

According to the DRPS, an investigation was undetaken in relation to a property located on Thorah Concession Road 2.

“It was determined that three licenses had been issued for plants to be grown indoors at this location,” reads a media release.

“Following the execution of a warrant, officers located an outdoor grow-op much larger than the licenses allow.”

Police say that approximately 2,100 plants were seized, as well as more than 300 pounds of dried marijuana that were packaged for shipping.

Quan Chen, 31, and Zheng Zhu, 49, have been charged with unauthorized production under the Cannabis Act.
