Brock Township releases statement about Dre’s Lodge in Sunderland

The Retirement Homes Regulatory Authority (RHRA) issued Order No. 2021-T0487-95-02 on July 20, 2021 to Dre’s Lodge Inc., Sunderland, ON.

“The Deputy Registrar issued an Order revoking the License of Dre’s Lodge Inc. (the “Licensee”) located in Sunderland, Ontario. The Order was issued under section 95(1) of the Retirement Homes Act, 2010 (the “Act”). The Deputy Registrar believes on reasonable grounds that the Licensee no longer meets the criteria for licensing set out in section 35 of the Act. The revocation is effective 6 months after the date of issue unless that date is extended.”

Dre’s Lodge Inc., located on River Street, Sunderland, is a private retirement and assisted living residence housing up to 17 residents. Recent issues have prompted the license revocation.

Brock Township staff are working closely with RHRA, Public Health agencies, and Durham Regional Police to ensure the safe and appropriate housing for the residents moving forward.

“Unfortunately, this is a situation that appears to have no remedy other than the action taken by the Retirement Homes Regulatory Authority to revoke the license of Dre’s Lodge Inc.  The well-being of the residents is now the top priority.  To that end, multiple agencies will immediately work together to assure the safety of the residents and provide long term housing solutions.”
