Selfies of suspect uploaded from stolen surveillance camera

A 48-year-old Brock Township woman has been charged in relation to the theft of a surveillance camera in Beaverton.

According to the DRPS, officers were notified about the theft back in May.

“A suspect proceeded to take pictures of themselves with the stolen camera, which were remotely sent to the owner, unbeknownst to the suspect,” reads a social media post from police.

The photos were passed along to officers, who identified the suspect and her location.

“Investigators executed a search warrant and located the stolen property,” the post reads.

“The suspect was arrested and the camera was returned to its rightful owner.”

The suspect, whose name has not been released, has been charged with possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.

She was released on an undertaking.
