The community is rallying for a Cannington family whose home was significantly damaged by a fire earlier this week.
An ONLINE FUNDRAISER has been organized for the Connie Drysdale and her family after the blaze broke out around 3:30 p.m. Monday (July 5) afternoon.
“Connie and her daughters, Rebecca and Dana, along with Dana’s husband, Craig, and their two-year-old son were fortunate enough to survive the fire. However, the emotional trauma that comes along with losing your home, all your possessions, and many cherished memories, has a devastating impact,” reads a post accompanying the fundraiser.
“Current estimates suggest the house will not be habitable for eight months. As their family grapples with immense loss, we as a community, need to rally together to offer any possible support in their return to normalcy. The Drysdale home has always been a welcoming place for friends and family to gather. As such, this loss is felt deeply by many.”
The effort has generated more than $6,600 worth of donations in little more than a day.
Firefighters from all three Brock Township halls were called in, as well as an aerial unit from Ramara Township.
The fire caused approximately $200,000 worth of damage according to Brock Township Fire Chief Rick Harrision.
