Residents across the township are mourning the recent death of Betty Anne Harder.
Harder — a staple in the agricultural community and longtime volunteer with the Sunderland Maple Syrup Festival – passed away peacefully with her family by her side on June 30. She was 65.
A post from the festival notes that the Harder family has been involved with the event since it began in 1996.
“Each year, she and her husband, Paul, of Harlaine Maple Farms worked tirelessly to produce fine maple syrup and ensure that the festival was a success. Betty Ann’s sweet smile always brightened the festivities. She will be missed,” reads a social media post from the Sunderland Maple Syrup Festival.
The family also played host to numerous events related to the Durham Region Plowmen’s Association at their properties in the Sunderland area.
Visitation will take place on Tuesday (July 6) from 6 to 9 p.m. at Low & Low Funeral Home in Uxbridge.
A private funeral service will be held Wednesday (July 7).
