
Three people are facing charges after police allegedly seized a loaded handgun along with a quantity of cocaine and Fentanyl following a traffic stop in Orillia.
According to the OPP, the vehicle was stopped by officers on patrol in the area of Barrie Road around 5:20 p.m. Wednesday (June 16).
“Subsequently, three suspects were arrested and searched and a loaded handgun and two prohibited knives were located. Further investigation resulted in the seizure of quantities of cocaine, Fentanyl and Canadian currency,” reads a media release.
John Cochrane, 42, of Toronto has been charged with possession of weapon for dangerous purposel two counts possession of prohibited device or ammunition for dangerous purpose; careless use of firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition; careless storage of firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition; transport firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition in a careless manner; unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm; knowledge of unauthorized possession of firearm; occupant of motor vehicle knowing there was prohibited or restricted weapon; possession of a firearm, prohibited or restricted weapon obtain by crime; possession of a firearm knowing serial number has been tampered with; three counts possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order; possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine; and possession of a Schedule I substance – cocaine.
James McCartney, 36, of Barrie, has been charged with possession of a Schedule I substance – other drugs; possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – other drugs; possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000; careless storage of firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition; careless use of firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition; transport firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition in a careless manner; unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm; knowledge of unauthorized possession of firearm; occupant of motor vehicle knowing there was firearm; possession of a firearm, prohibited or restricted weapon obtain by crime; possession of a firearm knowing serial number has been tampered with; possession of weapon for dangerous purpose; two counts possession of prohibited device or ammunition for dangerous purpose; three counts possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order; operation while prohibited; identity theft – obtain or possess another person’s identity information; personation with intent – intent to gain advantage (identity fraud); four counts possession of an identity document; and drive motor vehicle, fail to display two plates.
Samantha Oldfield, 30, of Rama has been charged with possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine; possession of a Schedule I substance – cocaine; three counts possession of weapon for dangerous purpose; careless use of firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition; careless storage of firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition; transport firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition in a careless manner; unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm; knowledge of unauthorized possession of firearm; occupant of motor vehicle knowing there was firearm; possession of a firearm, prohibited or restricted weapon obtain by crime; and possession of a firearm knowing serial number has been tampered with.
All three were held pending bail hearings.
