Driver allegedly seen slumped behind the wheel facing charges

A Lindsay motorist is facing charges after allegedly being seen slumped behind the wheel Thursday (June 17) evening.

According to the Kawartha Lakes Police Service, officers were called to the area of Russell Street West and Lindsay Street South around 7:45 p.m. for a possible impaired driver.

“Officers were called after a witness had observed the driver of a vehicle slumped over the wheel while stopped at the intersection,” reads a media release.

“While speaking with the driver the officer observed signs of impairment, after further investigation the driver was arrested.”

D Scott Ripka, 51, of Lindsay has been charged with operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs and failure or refusal to comply with demand.

They are scheduled to appear in Lindsay court on July 29.
