One person was airlifted to hospital following a collision on Highway 48 Monday (June 14) evening.

While few details have been released by the OPP, the collision occured between Lake Ridge Road (Regional Road 23) and Pefferlaw Road between 5:30 and 6 p.m.

Police shared a series of photos from the scene on social media that showed extensive damage to both of the vehicles involved.

One person sustained life-threatening injuries and two others were taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.

The highway was closed to traffic for several hours for the police investigation.
