Two teenaged boys have been charged in connection to an assault at the Beaverton Harbour that was captured on video.
According to the DRPS, officers initially recieved a report about the incident on Tuesday (June 7) evening around 7:30 p.m. and additional calls as the video was shared on social media.
“Videos of the assault emerged over social media showing the suspect pushing the victim off his bike before assaulting him,” reads a media release.
“The suspect continued to assault the victim before another suspect assisted in throwing the victim over a pier. The victim suffered minor injuries as a result of the assault.”
A 15-year-old and a 16-year-old have each been charged with assault.
They were released on an undertaking.
The mother of the victim reached out to The Brock Voice shortly after the incident, sharing the shocking video before it began circulating through the community (see note below).
“My hope is that this never happens again. That our kids are safe to go for a bike ride or a swim without being attacked,” she said.
Throughout the course of the minute-long video, the 14-year-old only defends himself as he is knocked to the ground and punched upwards of 15 times.
Several teens look on as bystanders, though none intervened.
“No one helped him out of the water. No one took his side,” the mother of the victim said, noting that her son was treated at the hospital for minor injuries.
